Currently National Guard G5, immediately prior served on Secretary of Defense James Mattis’s Close Combat Lethality Task Force. Has served as National Guard G8 Strategic Planner and on the National Commission on the Future of the Army. Prior to his appointment as the ARNG G8 Strategic

Planner, Mr. Sharp served 30 years as an Army Infantry Officer in the ARNG, the Regular Army and the US Army Reserve (USAR). His assignments included ARNG Chief of Plans and Policy (G5), Military Assistant for Readiness to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (ASA(M&RA)). During this time, the ASA(M&RA) conducted several notable policy efforts, including codifying the operational reserve, the Comprehensive Review of Full-Time Requirements, the Active Component (AC)/Reserve Component (RC) Costing Study, the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review and the AC/RC White Paper. Mr. Sharp was commissioned as an Infantry Officer and tactical assignments included Anti-Armor, Rifle, and Airborne Rifle Platoon Leader, before commanding Company C 1/18 IN and deploying to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for during Operation Vigilant Warrior. Institutional assignments include Mobilization Officer to Readiness Group—Salt Lake City, Operations Officer and later the Executive Officer of the 9th Support Battalion, 91st Training Division, USAR. Mr. Sharp’s first HQDA tours included Action Officer and later as the New Equipment Team Chief in the ARNG Training Division. While assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps Mr. Sharp managed the Combat Training Center program. In 2004 Mr. Sharp deployed as the Senior National Guard Advisor to the Commander, Multinational Corps – Iraq for the XVIII ABN Corps. As the commander of the Battle Command Training Center, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Mr. Sharp synchronized ARNG battalion, brigade, and division battle staff training. Mr. Sharp is married to Kate Nerone, they are the proud parents of two sons Jacob (24) and Charles (22) both Eagle Scouts from Troop 4077. Scott continues to be an active Scouter serving as a merit badge counselor, committee member, and Eagle Scout coach.
